EQII and Incentives

There were a few “carrot and stick” items on my mind today. The first was the Living Legacy program that SoE launched. In a nutshell, they’re offering lots and lots of fringe benefits to lure back all of those who played and canceled. The list is actually one of the most extensive I’ve ever seen – in game items, free playtime all summer, discounts on the next expansion, free content up to RoK, and the possibility of up to 20 free months of playtime for recruiting friends. Great! Where’s mine?

Yeah, I sound bitter. I do think the Living Legacy program is fantastic, but I cannot for the life of me see why they didn’t include rewards for those who are currently playing Everquest II. And no, veteran rewards don’t count in my book, because as far as I know, those are based on when the subscription was created, meaning if you played on launch day, cancelled, and came back today, you get all the rewards. I want a cool cloak and a pet drake dammit!

However, as I said before, this is a great idea, and it’s especially timely for guildleaders, like me, who are facing the historical summer slump and are looking for some fresh faces to fill out the roster. If you’re reading this, and are coming back to the game, look me up on the Guk server (Erika)! We are a very laid back guild, and we happily invite all classes and levels, but we’re particularly looking for about 4-5 higher level players (65-80) that are looking for a Sunday/Tuesday casual raiding guild. We’re doing T7 raid content, and are hitting up Kunark in groups on non raid nights. Our motto is, “Focused progress, but not at the expense of a good night’s sleep,” so if you aren’t in a rush to reach the end, and like to be guilded with some really cool cats, we might be the place for you.

Speaking of which, I used to blog a lot about my personal adventures in game, and haven’t done that as much lately. I don’t know why exactly, but I am determined to begin again, since that was the whole reason I started this site in the first place. I spend my nights with such a wide variety of people, you’d never picture such a bunch actually sharing anything in common, but here we are. I’ll be tackling that more soon.

I have a minor rant on incentive in EQII zones, but I’ll add it tomorrow.
In the meantime, I am looking forward to the summer in EQII. Even if I don’t get a cool pet drake, I can’t wait for the in game events!

  2. The first thing I did upon reading the news was to hit the cancel button on my account.

I have to admit my nose is really bent out of joint over this.

If I had just hit cancel 3 days earlier before my sub renewed I would have gotten 2 free months, and some in game items. Hey great job SOE, thanks for rewarding me for being a paying customer.

SOE makes it really hard to like them.
