Den of the Devourer and Blackscale Sepulcher
As the grind to 70 continued, we got invited to a guild group last night to do Blackscale Sepulcher. We joined Skaduss, Labb, Kendricke, and Lauxen, and made our first foray into the instance.

The highlight of the instance is a ring event, that reminded me of a combination of the Burrower Ring from The Deep in Everquest, and the Rathe Counsel Event from Plane of Earth, although on a much minor scale. The room itself, in the northwest corner on this map, felt just like the Burrower room, with mobs spawning around the outside, and us huddled close together in the middle of the room on a stalagmite. I was so ready to see little worms spawning, and growing bigger and bigger each round, but in Blackscale it’s just droags. Eventually, some named Stewards spawn, and the idea is to pull them out, get each one close to death, and then burn all four of them down real fast. It’s just like the Rathe event, only it didn’t involve trying to get 72 people to turn off attack in time, and you didn’t hear 6 enchanters screaming in tears because mez broke and the raid wiped just as they had all of the council ready to burn down. How I miss those days!

This was a fun zone overall, and Skaduss and Labb both talked to Turadramin and got updates for their Deathtoll Access quest. The whole time they were speaking with him I had the urge to do a roundhouse kick and unleash monkly fury on him, simply because he was a dragon, and there’s nothing like killing a dragon.
Anyway, we cleared the instance so fast that we had time to do Den of the Devourer. Skaduss had to leave but Lorelily filled in, and the group was ready to go. This was another zone that Mutz and I had not been to, and it was a fun crawl. I have to say, though, that it’s a good thing I love the architecture of the Kingdom of Sky, because the instances aren’t exactly unique in their look. It’s either Lab of Lord Vyemm or Sanctum of the Scaleborn over and over. I’m not complaining, but I do kind of hope that the Echoes of Faydwer instances offer a little more variety. I’m not sure I want to see gnomish architecture used over and over. /shudder.

Our group cleared Den pretty easily, and we eventually killed the Devourer, which is the boss mob that pops when you kill the two nameds in the zone. Hopefully Mutz and I will be coming back to this zone, since I’d eventually like to try Grizzlefazzle’s Errands. (Yes, another quest, stop the madness).
By the end of the night, Mutz and I had almost gotten half a level into 69, and with any luck, we’ll reach 70 by the end of this week!

Congradulations on all of the levels, it sounds as though you’re well on your way, and having a lot of fun doing it!
